Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data JobsComet collects, why we use it, and your choices. We may update it as the Platform evolves; material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.

1. Data we collect

Account: phone number and/or email, display name, profile, skills, location, Work/Hire preferences.
Listings & work: gig and job content, applications, messages, delivery files, reviews.
Payments: order amounts, Paystack references, wallet balances, MoMo/card payment details and payout destinations you provide (mobile money or bank; we do not store full card numbers).
KYC: ID images/numbers and verification status from you or verification partners.
Technical: device/browser basics, IP, logs needed for security and debugging, and optional PWA install data.

2. How we use data

Create and secure your account (including OTP login).
Operate marketplace and job-board features.
Process payments, escrow, payouts, and dispute handling.
Prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
Improve reliability and support you when something breaks.
Send transactional notices (orders, payouts, security). Marketing only with consent where required.

3. Who we share with

We share data with processors who help us run the Platform, including hosting (e.g. Vercel), database (e.g. Neon), file storage (e.g. AWS S3), SMS (e.g. Africa's Talking), email/SMTP providers, payment partners (e.g. Paystack), and KYC vendors when enabled. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the Platform. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Retention

We keep account and transaction records as long as needed to operate the Platform, meet legal/accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. You may request account closure; some records may remain where we must retain them.

5. Security

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed OTP codes, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure — protect your phone and email inbox, since OTPs are sent there.

6. Your choices

Update profile and visibility settings in your account.
Request access, correction, or deletion where applicable by emailing support.
Public profiles and gig/job listings are visible to other users by design.

7. Children

The Platform is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
